ICOM-CECA OFF-SITE MEETING IN WAKAYAMA
In collaboration with Wakayama Prefecture, CECA is offering a day-long off-site meeting in Wakayama City, Wakayama Pref., 120 km south of Kyoto City on September 5, 2019. Because of the space availability, pre-registration is required. Please note you do also need to register for ICOM Kyoto 2019 separately.

Meal Fee: 2,000 yen (Lunch and snack during the bus back to Kyoto) *To be paid in cash on September 5.
Shoes: As we will be walking outdoors, comfortable shoes are recommended.
The program is offered in English with translation from Japanese.

Activities:
The museum is located in the Iwase-Senzuka Tumulus Group from the 5th-7th CE. The group has about 900 burials which is one of the largest in number in Japan.
You will go into some of the burial mounds, see how Haniwa (clay figures) were set on burial mound and explore the residence from this period.
Inside the museum, you will discover excavated artifacts from this tumulus group.
